2023-07-20T00:00:00There's no way to know how accurate this is, except the googled consensus on the ideal egg frying surface is 320°F and when I get that reading, sure enough, it's a great griddle temperature for frying eggs. When I get a reading of 360°, my eggs sizzle on contact which means the bottom side ends up more done than ideal by the time the top gets time to set. Haven't tried it on other things yet but based on the egg test, I'm calling this device pretty darned accurate. It's worth having just for properly cooked fried eggs to me, but I'm pretty sure that even though an infrared thermometer can't measure internal temperatures of meats, it wouldn't take too much experimenting to be able to get a pretty good idea of internal based on the surface temperatures this device does read. Very handy device to have on hand, particularly for aficionados of vintage cast iron.

I can't tell you if the temperature is accurate but with all the charts specifying the temps for cooking specific items and me using this Thermometer, I've successfully cooked all that I've attempted and with no issues at all. I also have an internal thermometer and it goes hand in hand with this laser infrared thermometer. We have not under or over cooked anything. A great and SIMPLE tool to have ... highly recommend it.
