I had been looking to add a U-Bass to round out my string instrument collection and to add some bottom end to my recordings. A bass player friend suggested the U-Bass and I'm glad he did.

I bought this bass-use so that I could practice my Bass at our local Park. Tunes the same as a normal Bass Guitar. Perfect and it's loud enough that I don't need the VOX Headphone amp that I also bought. It has a built in amp output/pickups which would be needed (plugged into an amp) if I was playing with other instruments. I like the built in tuner. Overall, a great way to practice Bass in a tiny package.

I am enjoying learning to play this base uke. It's super easy to learn and there are great Youtube tutorials. Easy enough for kids and the strings don't hurt your fingers like guitar strings.

In Honolulu we say okole maluna (oh-koh-lay mah-loo-nah) as a drinking toast or “Bottoms Up”. Interesting and portable concept with the ubass. The rubber thunderblack strings are a riot. Yup- they’re noisy and it seems baby powder (a la Jeff Beck) helps with sticky string noise. Make sure to adjust the EQ with more emphasis on the bass and mid range. Excessive treble (highs) will only make string noise worse. Jury’s still out on the string height- reviews have cautioned that shaving the bridge saddle could result in more string rattle/buzzing. A plus is the thunderblacks are soft, so the overall action’s not so bad. May try the thunder red strings which are lower tension, though reportedly they have snapped with wear.

Daughter bought this to play. Although it's a ukulele, it is a bass, so not high pitched. Great sound. The tone is full. Nylon strings are bulky and took some getting used to. The built-in tuner is handy and accurate. Construction for what it is is good. The bag is sturdy. Nice bass for smaller hands.

I ordered this on the recommendation of a friend and was excited to receive it. The first one came with the A string broken and no other parts in the box. I called the manufacturer and they said, you should send it back to Amazon because there is nothing we can do. I returned it and ordered a new one. It arrived late, two days after they advertised it would. (The first one was also several days later than indicated on the website). The second one had all of its strings but when plugged into an amp, would not produce a sound on the E or A strings, sounded OK on the D and G but nothing from the lower strings. As I was boxing it up to return, I noticed a hang tag saying “Proudy inspected and set up in the USA by a certified Kala technician” but neither the box for the initials or the date had any writing. I’ve never written a bad review but I am TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED with this item, quality, service, etc. 1 star is the lowest rating allowed to process this review.

I'm new to playing bass, but have been a professional musician for decades. My first love was bass, but I took a detour to trumpet for my whole life and decided to buy a few basses to give it a go. This u bass is light weight but heavy in tone! The strings are ready in the fingers, and the short scale makes it a snap to get around. I'm playing it more than my full-sized basses. It's a bonus that my young sons can play it as well! I'm loving it!

When I bought this at the end of January I was a total newbie. The only stringed instrument I had had any experience with was the ukulele. (So I knew Kala was a good brand.)

Bom instrumento, fico apenas com pena de a corda Lá, ter algumas notas a trastejar e sem sustem. Talvez terá de ser feito um pequeno ajuste e setup.
