2024-06-17T00:00:00Ordered this to use for a month long road trip from the East Coast to the Midwest and back. We were traveling with our 2 medium sized dogs and needed more room than the just the back of SUV for this long of a trip. We have a Fiat 500x that doesn't have roof bars or a rack, so I had been looking for a rooftop cargo bag that was able to hook in the doors. After lots of research and reading reviews from others, we decided to try this one. This is the first time we've used a cargo carrier on the roof so it was a bit concerning. The cargo bag was easy to install, using the instructions they provided. We used the protective mat and I had bought another just in case. We did a drive with several luggage bags filled with heavier items/magazines in it a month before our trip. We tested it going around corners, going fast and slow, and making stops - seemed to work great! Next was the actual trip with it. It was really helpful to have during the trip. We took it off when we had multiple days at a place and then put it back on the morning we left, and left it on during quick overnight stops at hotels. We parked near lights at hotels and no one seemed to bother anything. The zipper worked well and the Velcro covering stayed put. We traveled through light and heavy rain and snow - everything stayed dry inside the bag! We had tightened the straps as much as they could to keep the bag in place and then tied the ends so they wouldn't flap in the wind. There was occasional noise of the wind moving through the straps but it wasn't too bad. Even with the protective mat under the bag and straps tightened as much as we could, the bag still moved slightly towards the back and the mat was pushed from the front and bunched up an inch or two under the bag, just from driving at high speeds on interstates and wind but wasn't anything to be concerned about. Now, we have it folded and stored in it's storage bag in the garage, was pretty easy to put back in. We had packed extra door hooks and duct tape but didn't need either. Also packed foldable step stools that worked well when getting items, adjusting the bag or taking off/putting it on again. Overall, it was very helpful on our travels, would use again! I would recommend this one. -

2024-10-04T00:00:00This thing worried me on our 10 hour drive in the rain from Maryland to Georgia. We used the side racks since my car can go either way, but not both. The straps were just a little too short to use all of them and have them clip. I gave it four stars for the strap length. Since we only could use four straps I was freaking out a bit. Also since this thing is from China, just a bit unsure of the durability. If the front straps had broken for some reason, the whole thing would have flown off the car. They didn’t, and we went through some serious storms with high winds. I used a ratchet strap in the center that I knew was not going to break, even if the front straps did. Just a little insurance. I would recommend a ratchet in the middle, just in case. It’s an easy addition and I didn’t worry about it at all. The inside was completely dry, which I was not worried about given the thickness and design. It folded up nicely back into the bag. I doubt we will ever need it again, but if we do, I’ll be fine with it if I use a ratchet across the middle. Very durable material.
