2023-01-30T00:00:00I'm starting to work on this years returns and found this great bargain on Tax Cut. The only problem I found was how to download the software. It was not obvious. The directions stated to go to Your Order and click on the Download button, but there was no Download button, only a grayed line that said "download software" which did nothing. I finally found the "button" when I clicked on View Your Order, and it was there. Copy the code because you will need it to enable the software. -

2024-08-31T00:00:00Switched from Turbotax to H&R Block tax software prior year. Like the interview, help, accuracy of their download, ease of various forms, and their final accuracy checks before submitting. Price is an attraction, too. Product periodically updates. No issues for me.

2023-03-03T00:00:00Though this year's product is not as good as the last few years, this software is still good enough that I'll give HR Block at least one more try before I'd consider switching brands. Download from this site is pretty simple if you follow the link to your online content, setup is easy, and the user flow through the software is relatively drama free, especially if you're able to use the option to auto-fill from previous years' versions of the software. The form has good recommendations for the average user, as well as links to more detailed information and a pre-file checklist to ensure you're not sending it off with an oops. The one thing that docked a star for me is the option to have W2 information downloaded directly from your employer by inputting their tax EIN. That option just does not work right. Every W2 that I filled in manually was fine, no issues, but every W2 that I used that automatic download option was rife with items that needed correcting, and they were headscratchers to boot, just elementary errors that shouldn't have happened. I would have been better off manually entering all of them, and that is what I would recommend to anyone using this software. Otherwise, it worked perfectly well, and the only reason I mention the issue at all is that it is mentioned as a special feature, but it's a feature that doesn't work as it should.

2023-02-21T00:00:0012 days, 6 calls, 6 different people, and over 4 hours of actually talking (not on hold), and going through the issue with each support person (2 at "tier 2") I still have no resolution to what seems like an obvious bug in their software (I have two "Foreign tax credit" entries, but the program doesn't add them together, just puts the last entry into the tax form). The original issue and a new one (my working software supposedly needs activation) are now being escalated again! If I could get my money back I would have a while ago. Still hopeful. Stay tuned.

2023-03-20T00:00:00I have used H&R Block's tax software for about five years, and after reading so many negative reviews, I almost went another route this year. Many reviews said the program had changed for the worse, that it was difficult to download and install, and that returns were being rejected. I had NONE of those issues. The download link was supplied by Amazon, and it downloaded and installed as smooth as ever. The program itself looked and acted like it has for years. I had my return done and e-filed in under 30 minutes, and I got the email that it was accepted by the IRS only four minutes later. NOTE: It says that it requires Windows 10 or higher. Well, I did it all in Windows 7, and it worked perfectly.

2023-03-27T00:00:00I selected this version due to mortgage interest. It didn't take much time at all to process the taxes, send them to IRS and then have it accepted within less than an hour for the entire installation to completion.
