2023-06-02T00:00:00This year spring suddenly I needed an effective ant moat for my elegant blown glass hummingbird feeders. Never got ants before in autumn nor winter (year round hummingbirds). But this season as it got warm after the winter snows, hails, and rains, the tiny sugar ants came marching up the tall patio post and into the feeder. I filled the small 1 oz metal moat that came with the fancy feeder with water, and it worked, the ants stayed away. But it quickly evaporated in the warming air, after one day. I had to keep refilling it with water every day. So I researched and discovered these particular ant moats. They are large capacity (4-5 oz for water), very pretty red color and flower petal umbrella shape that goes with my fancy blown glass feeder design, and they are made of plastic which is safe and doesn't overheat in the sun like metal. I only have to refill these moats every three days on warm weather. For some reason just the smell or sight of water entirely barriers and deters the ants to stay away from the hummingbird feeder. Not even one tiny ant approaches anywhere close. And if the little bird wants a sip of water besides his juice, he can dip in. Now it's well into hot summer, and the hummingbirds and their wren friends all like to sip purified water from the moat (no ants), so I fill it fresh each morning. Translucent so you can check the water level. No leaking. Sturdy design. Affordably priced, too. Problem instantly solved :)) Thank You!!!!! -

2024-06-08T00:00:00This is a great product! No more ants in my hummingbird feeder. Easy to assemble and value is great! I love the little brushes to clean the flower openings on my feeder! This red color looks nice as it happens to match my glass hummingbird feeder. I use it with just water. Only one disappointment… The hook on the moat was not large enough to attach to my heavy duty shepherds hook. I may try tweaking it a bit to adjust to the diameter of the shepherds hook. I had to use it on a smaller one. I recommend this product!

2024-11-10T00:00:00Best purchase. I get more than a dozen rare birds that come out of the brush to drink water from these, on top of the ant repellant factor. Top up with water daily. These work to keep ants off the feeders easy to assemble and they look really pretty I love the umbrella shape they’re just a bit fancier than the flower designed ones. Need to be topped up daily. Bonus, the sparrows love to take baths in these and drink from them. Love them getting

2024-09-17T00:00:00They are perfect. Ive bought some of the little black ones. They don’t hold enough water. These umbrellas hold a lot more water and you can almost rely on rain to keep them full. If not, you can use an empty 20oz cola bottle to add water. (Most convenient to me.) Yes, I have bought them several times as my number of feeders have grown. Excellent value. $price. And, I’ve given them as gifts. I leave them up all year and have never had to replace one. So… I would buy them again, recommend them to a friend, and have given them as gifts. Oh, and they work the ants cannot cross the moat to get to your sugar water. My ants gave up and don’t even come ‘round.

2024-11-30T00:00:00These ant moats really keep the ants out of my Hummingbird feeders and I have tried every thing. These are wide enough that the ants drown before they can reach the edge. It is so nice to not battle ants anymore you just have to keep them filled up with water as it will evaporate in the hot weather. Buy these and you won’t be sorry. I highly recommend these ant moats.
