The brim is large enough to shade neck and face, but not overly large to flap around in the wind. I don’t use it for rain protection but I’m sure it would be OK. Material is a decent quality.

I wear it anyway, although I look a little strange in it because form follows function and it's great for the sun and the rain. It keeps your head dry and when it's sunny It will stop you from getting a sunburn and your head won't overheat from all the ventilation points. It's good too because you can cram it in your backpack when it's not in use and it doesn't suffer from it. How great to have a hat with two functions.
