2020-10-14T00:00:00I was really worried and didn't have much hope after reading quite a few negative reviews on multiple FoodSavers. I took a chance and purchased the VS1100. I'm prepping for a sailing trip in the tropics of 3-4 months so vacuum sealing food is really important for pretty obvious reasons. -

2023-10-02T00:00:00It works so well , on different settings . Dry / Wet , pulse you can interrupt the vacuum cycle and immediately seal it when you like . It really is a nice unit so far . I haven’t worked it super hard but I have done a lot of sealing various veggies so far . Most bag right after bag , not letting the machine / heating elements to rest - zero faults . I have great confidence this thing will last by how it sound while operating it . It’s a bargain , get ya one !!! -

I figured the larger bags would not fit but I am ok with that. I use the rolls of bags and seal one end then cut it to the size I need. It gets tricky when it is in vacuum mode. If your bag is in too far it will not take the air out. Just pull the bag out a little to give it room to suction. I have used mine for over 2 years without any problems. Well 1 issue, the hose for jar sealing does not fit in this machine. Overall excellent machine. -

2020-06-13T00:00:00I toiled over which Food Saver to buy. I was set to spend some money and buy a premium version, but after reading many reviews and watching several videos, I decided that as a first-time FoodSaver buyer, that the compact was for me...and I am so glad I made this choice! Because it is so compact, it sits on top of a piece of wood on top of my toaster oven. (Only try this if there are no vents in the top of your toaster oven). All this fits under the cabinets. With it so handy, I use it ALL the time. I usually bring it down onto he counter to use as it gets better suction that way with the food resting on the counter too. I bought some discount rolls for the baggie refills and I keep them nearby on a shelf. The compact version does all the same things the big versions do...if you buy the attachments you can also seal wine bottles and mason jars. The compact version only fits up to 8" wide baggies though. But I still reseal bags of potato chips and cereal bags in their original (wider) bags. I fold the top corners in and then I am able to stick the edge of the baggy in to my machine. Also, when using my own purchase baggies from the 8" rolls, I often cut a bit longer bag than necessary. So let.s say I am storing some chicken. Then I cut open the bag and take out one portion--the smaller my storage portions get, the more room I have to seal. But by giving it a little "extra" room, you can cut open and reseal over and over again, even if you only take a little bit of food out. Keep in mind that you need two to three inches extra to vacuum and seal. But in some cases, I only need to seal the item as I know I will get into it again in a couple of days (like cheese in the fridge) and so then I just put the edge on the sealer and I don't need as much material to do that. By using it this way I am able to get the most use and bang for my buck out of my baggies. I am thrilled how long potato chips, cereals, cheese, meats, home baked cookies and so much more last so long now that I finally have a FoodSaver! Definitely a worthwhile investment no matter which model you buy! I can even reseal my Color Street Nails and other non-food items with it! -

2024-07-18T00:00:00I have owned a Food Saver for a few years. I had always wanted a smaller version, and there it was. I love the size of this one. I don't have a lot of countertop space and the older one was constantly being put away. It has now been retired to my friend who loves it, and I didn't use any of the other settings, so this one is perfect. -

2024-10-12T00:00:00Okay, not the very best sealer out there but for the room it takes and the price it costs... It's a great deal. Yes you have to snap the lid shut manually for each seal but once you get the hang of it, it's easy enough. You can do double seals manually if you want!
