2020-11-05T00:00:00The media could not be loaded. In the first years of my life, I grew up with a coffee percolator. Its in my humble opinion, a percolator is the best way to make coffee. Back in the 1990's, companies started marketing drip style coffee makers. They would classically show somebody getting coffee grounds all over their percolators, and using that as a reason to switch to drip. Well, it must have worked, because our family switched to drip style coffee makers, and we went through many of them, as they never lasted more then 3 to 5-years! -

2025-01-23T00:00:00I've had a different Presto Percolator for years, but all of the drain holes were clogged with coffee grounds, causing the basket lid to overflow and leak grounds into the coffee, even after multiple painstaking rounds soaking and cleaning out as many of the tiny holes as possible. So, I decided that the percolator wasn't for me and went to to an automatic drip, which was a fail because the carafe didn't keep it hot, followed by pour-over, which I love but don't have the time for multiple cups during the week. So, I decided to try the percolator again, this time with the filters. My partner worried that it would be weaker, but it isn't. It's just the way we like it: hot, strong, clear coffee. I did take someone else's trick - open the filter and wet it before putting it in the basket - that way it conforms to the shape of the basket and is much more manageable. Be sure to keep the loose grounds contained by folding the corners over the stem before capping with the basket lid. Lastly, the basket cleanup is SO much easier with the filters - just dump the filter pod, rinse or wash with soapy water and repeat - no grounds down the drain. As for the percolator - I got the black one and like it better than the chrome that I had before. Seems bigger overall, bigger basket, fewer fingerprint smudges!

A diferencia de las cafeteras de "vaso" o jarra de vidrio, este tipo de cafetera sí calienta el café como se debe además de dar un mejor sabor al manejar temperaturas más altas. Así es como deberían ser todas las cafeteras, ya que además no hay riesgo de que se te rompa o quiebre tan fácilmente. Por otro lado, puedes usarla sin filtro, lo que la hace además una opción más ecológica y barata a largo plazo.
